I Hate Copycats!!

I do, I really do…I mean, get your own idea…They make me so mad…most of the time…sometimes it’s flattering(isn’t it suppose to be the highest form of flattery?)…even validating…like when you create something and then see it or  something similar in a magazine

Not to be confused with being inspired by someone or something.  I mean the whole internet and Pinterest are suppose to be about getting inspired and giving inspiration…or at least hoping you have inspired someone.  Which is different than copying someone.  Very different.  Just so we are clear

I had this friend in high school that copied everything I did.  Died her hair the same color as my natural color, tried to steal my boyfriends, dressed the same, decorated her room the same, talked the same, it got crazy with a capitol P-S-Y-C-H-O…not Single White Female Murder People crazy, but weird none the less…I digress, back to the purpose of this post

In this case it’s more of a coincidence, but I got your attention, didn’t I?

So about a year ago I made this:

Dog Upcycled with Looking Glass Spray Paint

Cute, right?  It’s a statue I bought at a garage sale for like 50 cents and gave a makeover with some black auto primer that was laying around and Looking Glass Spray Paint.

Then last week my mom ran across this in a magazine:

silverdogmagazineclipwpshadow

Pretty similar, right?  Check out that price tag!!  Mine was way cheaper, but it doesn’t have a place to hide your keys…and it’s a little smaller, but check them out side by side:

dogCollage

Definitely some similarities.  Have you ever made or upcycled something and then saw it or something like it in a magazine or at a store for sale?  Ever had a friend try to steal your life? Tell me all about it!
